3 Other Ways to Use LinkedIn
LinkedIn is used primarily by HR recruiters looking to hunt down possible or prospective job candidates, and by individuals looking to network or find a job. But what if you don’t fall into any of those categories? Are there other uses for LinkedIn?
Other ways to use LinkedIn:
1) Helps you get found through Google search
The keywords you use in your profile can get you found on Google for related search terms. For instance, if someone were to Google “experienced advertising writer and strategist”, my LinkedIn profile is the first search result that comes up. As a freelancer, this helps me get found by those individuals looking for someone with my background. Get help optimizing your profile for search engine optimization (SEO)
2) Provides a great additional or primary digital presence
If you’re not savvy enough or don’t have the time to create your own independent website, LinkedIn is a great place to bring together your resume, recommendations, and business-related information where you can be found by prospective employers. It also provides a direct URL that can be used in your personal communications.
3)Provides learning opportunities
LinkedIn offers many association and industry discussion groups where like-minded professionals can exchange ideas, collaborate and help each other out. This is also a great place to establish your credibility in your field.
LinkedIn continues to add functionality to its many offerings, while people and companies are finding new ways to leverage them.
